Spike Lee's best feature since DO THE RIGHT THING
A timely indictment of how little has changed about American racism since the 1970s--since the 1960s--since Reconstruction, actually. Every single performer is excellent. The script is outstanding. The score is first-rate (particularly at the end). Spike's direction is true and uncompromising through-out. The ending that takes you through the horrors of Charlottesville and the murder of Heather Heyer, It leaves me in outrage and tears every time I watch it. I've personally worked on 7 of Spike's films, and this is one of his best. It should have won director and picture. Adam Driver is outstanding. Upshot: we need to ban the KKK and its like-minded organizations. They are the domestic terrorists the FBI keeps warning us about, and David Duke may seem like a fool on the news, but his people kill innocent Americans, and they need to be stopped.
