Worth spending the money for it.
This fusion splicer has almost everything you need to splice fiber (just need some sleeves). Having never done a fusion splice before (I have done mechanical ones) this was very easy and straightforward. You just strip, cleave, and splice the connector. They want you to download an app as some of the settings can be changed and removed with the app. The app also will give you some training videos on using the product (how to fuse the fiber, change electrodes, and update the firmware). The app requires way more permissions than it needs. It is not needed for the use of the fuser and I would only recommend it if you have to update the firmware on it and then uninstall it. For the value and cost of what you get its a easy buy. I would recommend it to anyone that needs to fuse some fiber but doesn't want to spend an arm and a leg to do it. Outstanding Value for a Quality Fiber Fusion Splicer - Great Product
I had my skepticism regarding this fiber splicer just due to the cost. I watched every YouTube video I could find and read everything available on the web regarding this splicer. It just could not be this great at this price? I have to say I'm just AMAZED at this product!! For $1000 you get the entire kit including a cleaver and stripper. The Bluetooth phone app interface is outstanding. I have performed just a few splices so far with absolutely no issue. This unit works great. I would highly recommend it at this point. If it keeps doing what it is doing now for an extended period time I will have no complaints. A solid device, well constructed and easy to use.

Quite amazing core alignment for the price. I've joined SM erbium to smf28 no problem.
