Great product. It was easy to set up and the web interface gives you a few more options, but the phone app will do most of what you will need. It eliminated all dead spots in the house and extended my wifi out onto the deck and even over the pool. I didn't realize only the 1 tall tower was tr-band and the other 2 are dual band but they all work great. You can use any of the 3 to connect to the wired connection which is nice because they suggest to have the tr-band located in the middle of the set up. With the 5.0 ghz band I was getting 217 mbps download speeds. Very happy with the product. You can also see everything connected on the system which comes in handy.

I want to be honest. Mesh over standard wifi sounds in theory like an amazing idea. And it does work, TO SOME EXTENT. I live in a 3 story house and the internet originates on the top floor. Mesh units were placed on all 3 floors and it did increase the internet speed and connectivity, BUT NOT TO A CRAZY LEVEL! As I said, it works to some extent, and it DOES work, instantly. But you are not going to get the stable speeds that wired gives without being wired. Still, for a little over a hundred dollars, and knowing that it replaces my router which I rent from the cable company on a monthly basis, it will pay for itself in time and there is a noticeable boost.

I have been reasonably pleased with my Velop system. I would give it five stars except for two things. Full disclaimer... I'm fairly technical and I am accustomed to simply setting up my equipment and configuring it the way I want. This system requires you to use their mobile app for setup and configuration. Then it takes you through a frustrating step by step process on the mobile app. "Is your device plugged in? {clicks yes}. Do you see a slow blinking blue indicator light on top of the device? {clicks no}. What color is the light? {clicks purple}. ....analyzing.....analyzing.... Please unplug your device from the wall and wait 10 seconds. Have you reconnected power? {clicks yes}. etc etc. This methodology is *perfect* for a non-technical person who wants a basic configuration and needs to get up and running with a minimum of frustration. For a technical person who knows what they are doing, it was infuriating. The other negative is that the I already have ethernet cable run throughout my house. I want the wireless nodes to exchange data using the ethernet cabling. Cable is always better than wireless. But I can't figure out how to make this change using the dumbed down customer interface. Nevertheless, I've got it working and it really does go smoothly if you just answer the questions and follow the step by step process. I live in a neighborhood where the houses are on 1/2 acre lots. I cannot advise on how the Velop works in high density housing like apartment buildings. FWIW, I have 1GB fiber to the house. using fast.com, I have gotten more than 350mb/s on wifi, standing next to the Velop node.Read full review

The easiest network I’ve installed yet! My home is only about 2500sf, but I wanted full coverage including the back yard and driveway. So far it’s delivering as promised and I’m glad I went with the Tri-band and the 3 pack. Right out of the box I just installed the app and followed its instructions. Each node took about 5 minutes but all I really had to do was place the node and plug it in. The app did the rest. I really liked that I could install a secondary node to the modem and the main node anywhere (for me giving me greater back yard coverage). And if and when I decide to add more, I know it will be just as easy to set up. The hardest part to switching, having to take down all my extenders and access points.

We always used to have yo reset our wifi from time to time to get good, quick response for searching, videos, etc. Even though it was located central in our house, you would lose strength at any distance, and it was a good, top of the line, modern wifi router. When I went to set up this new Velop mesh system, it was a little difficult at first to setup, (lack of specific directions, sequence, etc). Once it was setup; let's just say.......the only way to go! Having the signal strength is obviously key. Very responsive and fast! Worth a little persistence and patience on the setup.
