I have multiple nest devices and use the Nest app as well as the Google Home app. So, this was a great addition to my ecosystem. The installation was a breeze as I replaced my old smoke detector, so the wiring was easy to switch over. Connecting the nest smoke detector to the Nest app was straight forward. One thing I realized is that this smoke detector doesn't appear in the Google Home app, which is what I use primarily for all my connected devices. But, since installing the smoke detector, since it's a smoke detector, it's not an often used device so the fact that it doesn't appear in the Google Home app is not an issue for me. I believe Google is working to integrate it, so we'll see. Lastly, I like the lighting at night, though I wish it was brighter or if there was the ability to adjust its brightness. Either way, I'm glad I added the Nest smoke detector to my ecosystem and like the ability to check its status in the Nest app. Read full review

10 year life time without trade in, as well as shave life in store or inventory count as 10 year limited life time. Life time start as manufacturing date not purchasing date, a bit strange and unfair. Home Depot item typically set for 6 months or longer before sold. Be aware

Nest delivers great customer experience and ease-of-use once again. It is obvious that there has been a substantial investment in the out-of-the-box experience, having great looks and starting-up tutorial. At this price-point it is obviously a luxury item, as you can have the basic functionality completed by a $20 off-the-shelf item. However if you like technology and like the advanced features (such as speech, cell-phone connectivity and corridor light) then this is a solid investment. The other solid thing about Nest is that you can rest assure that the phone app is robust and has been deeply tested by not only hardware engineers but by software engineers as well. I have seen on more than one occasion that you buy a solid hardware device, just to found out later that the mobile software that was developed to support it, is not up to par and just gives you headaches and insecurity, for example if it disconnects and does not have a good re-connection mechanism. My experience with the Nest software is that it is being updated regularly and they do listen to customer complaints and try to fix it and verify it in a timely manner.Read full review

These smoke and carbon monoxide detectors work as they should and have a couple of neat features built in. Easy to install as any other detector just follow the directions for pairing and connecting to existing wifi through the app. After that, you can set the night light features on these as you'd like which can be handy in dark hallways at night. They do self tests and report their results to your app. They are also a really nice build quality. They don't feel cheap in your hands like most detectors do.

I have other Nest Protects which are older versions. I liked that the new one added a couple of features that improved an already great product! It now checks sound levels daily. Also, the install could not have been simpler. You dont need to connect your phone to the product network initially You simply have the new Nest nearby the installed one and it grabs the settings from that one! Wish every new product could work this way. More than satisfied with this.
