I researched the heck out of these type of vacs for a long time. I was drawn to the Powerbot because it looked like it could navigate our fairly thick carpet. I saw YouTube videos that demonstrated this capability (one user vid had carpet exactly like ours) and asked many questions. It is currently roving the house on day 3 and seems to make its way around our eclectic furnishings and hodge podge of items quite well. I have no preconceptions that it will get into corners or do the deep clean of our upright but it will reduce that task. With various arm and neck problems for two 50+ year olds it is nice to have something to assist. I recommend not putting the charger on an inside wall, it tries to find the shortest return path and will end up in the wrong room beeping for help. The remote lets us steer it into odd places and guide it back to the charger.Read full review

1st, My background. 28 yrs. machine technology, custom designed and built metal cutting machinery. 11 yrs in Quality Control Management for a Major intl. Co. Now retired, and caregiver for my wife. . . I thought this POWERBOT 9000 would lesson my burden with housekeeping. We have an open floor-plan w/ the living, family, kitchen, and dining rooms open to each other, & bedrooms accessed down a long hallway. 90% low nap carpet, balance hardwood & tile. I find that I have to cordon off areas w/chairs to vacuum, since it will try to vac'm the entire space of the open area and run out of charge in about 30 min on low vac setting. It vac'ms in a random pattern & does "Scrolling" loops when touching a baseboard, sometimes turns 90 deg. and misses 8 to 10" strips. Will go under an corner table, turn around 3-4 times and can't find its way out and shut down. I move it out, restart, it doesn't know where it is, and starts over at the beginning pattern. Master Bd Rm & Bath area, 306 sq. ft. Will not vac on full charge on low vac setting. It vac'ms good, but feel I have to watch it, and don't understand the random patters. Not what the commercials ads claim.Read full review

This robotic vacuum is better than the two Roombas we have had. The suction is greater and it doesn't have to bump into something to know it's there and can go around. Also like the feature where if it doesn't finish before the battery runs low, it parks, recharges and then resumes where it left off.

What a pleasant surprise. I have had Roomba units for years. I generally replaced them on a three year cycle (improvements and batteries become less effective) I replaced the last two with a Samsung. The Samsung uses a sensor to "see" and avoid objects compared to Roomba tapping each with a distinctive bump. Noise level is a little lower for the Samsung, but not enough to make a difference to me. Samsung appears to be more logical in cleaning a space. Samsung dust bin is larger and easier to empty. .Roomba is great, Samsung is better.

I wasn't sure how well this would work. If I run it over the room twice it gets almost all the hair from the dogs. Battery is very short sadly. Could be nice to have a schedule but the remote works just to start it. I have had problems getting it to want to charge. It might be the floor or something. Manually putting it onto the charger usually works unless it goes to take off instead of charging. Not sure if the other brand is better. Bought this for the price and the larger wheels.
