Good Arduino learning tool
If you're new to the Arduino microcontroller platform, this is a good kit to pick up. You get a nice-quality Arduino Uno clone and proto-shield, a small breadboard, some adapters and a bunch of wires to connect things up. A USB cable is included to connect to your computer, and a 9-volt battery holder lets you power your projects away from the computer. The kit includes parts for a wide range of projects. There are basic items like switches, LEDs and potentiometers, and more advanced pieces like an ultrasonic range sensor, LCD display, and compass module. To keep it all organized, the kit comes in a plastic case with removable tray.
Some similar kits include a disc with experiments to try. With this kit the seller provides a link to a page with those lessons after the purchase. Many of the lessons are just links to other pages and some of the links didn't work, but that's not a major problem. There are many other places (the official Arduino site, for instance) and forums online with plenty of information when things aren't clear.
All these pieces are available separately from many sellers, of course, but here they're all rounded up for you already. This kit is definitely worth its cost in convenience and for the array of parts. Pick one up and start making things!
