This interesting but a poor 2nd to the Devil's brigade by Aldeman and Walton, another true story. The weasel snow transport was originally designed for the FSSF. The Mt. Div fighting was pedestrian by comparison. The FSSF climbed Mt. Difensa in Italyto open the way to Rome via an "unclimbable" route at night with full gear in freezing rain. Experienced climbers who tried the route on a summer day had to be rescued. The FSSF held 1/4 of the Anzio beachhead with 4%of the troops, really. They were the 1st troops into Rome. A must read. Climp to Conquer does a good job of telling of the creation of The area including Aspen by the returning troops, a fascinating story.
