SynopsisWhen you've already overpacked for a vacation or a business trip, the last thing you need is a bulky guidebook. Slipping easily into a pocket, briefcase, or backpack, this handy atlas brims with information vital for sightseers and globe-trotters. The heart of this atlas is its 64-page travel section, with maps of time zones, major air routes, and climate conditions, plus a fully updated gazetteer of 126 notable countries. The gazetteer includes specific information on each nation's form of government, currency, language, weather, banking hours, and international dialing code, as well as important advice about medical requirements and warnings about any potential danger spots. You'll also find downtown maps of 20 major city centers showing visitors to Bangkok where to look for Vimanmek, the largest golden teak building in the world, or vacationers in Sydney the closest metro stop to the Aquarium. All of this plus 96 pages of up-to-date political maps of the world and an index of 11,000 placenames make the Pocket World Atlas a must for any traveler.
A nice find! It’s practical to have a compact atlas on my desk as a ready reference. We tend to forget basic geography, so this little book really helps to refresh my memory especially when reading historical novels, nonfiction or watching informative videos.
