Great deal on a great phone!
This is a brand new unlocked phone. I already knew it had a reputation of having a weak battery, but I adjusted the power saving modes and am happy with the results. It takes really good pictures, user friendly, and has a quality feel. Was going to get the Note 5 but really needed something with the SD memory cards. Brand new Samsung Galaxy Note 4
It said brand new note 4 which is note the case. The phone is refurbished . It has the same problem that I'm replacing the phone I have .the screen cover or glass is loose also the back up button and home button and the one in the middle doesn't show light on them I have to push several times to have that light appear on screen to make the button's function. Almost perfect
I was super excited to unbox my Note 4 especially since it's going to add to my collection along with it being the last removable battery in a flagship Samsung device. Turning it on of course I noticed All of the AT&T bloatware which I expected and then disabled. That wasn't the issue, when I go to look at the software I see that it's still on kit Kat which is Android 4.4.4 in this case. So of course I just let everything update in the background like the Google apps, Samsung apps, and that eventually I go to update the phone itself and oddly enough it says it's up to date. Now of course that's not right, that's the software it started on! So I proceed to go through some of the usual steps in terms of updating a Samsung phone. Do a factory reset, didn't work. Put all my info in again and then try Samsung Smart switch because that usually works...... Well it didn't this time. Now I'm getting a little frustrated, I call up Samsung and say "hey is there a way you guys can update this for me?" Basically they say it's up to the carrier to roll out updates in this case since it's not an unlocked by default phone. So on to my second call, I call AT&T and they say the phone has to be active on a line in order to update. Of course I don't want to start a line so that was a dud. Now I'm really getting desperate, this takes me to Reddit and basically I'm not the only person who's had this issue but now that the Note 4 is plenty of years old it no longer has support from Samsung kies (previous to Samsung Smart switch) and so it basically looks like I'm dead in the water. I haven't done it yet but my last ditch effort is going to be trying to flash the stock ROM on my own. Of course this wasn't easy either since most websites say to go to Sammobile and find the ROM. Of course with my luck the only model that isn't listed is the AT&T variant! Now I know I could always flash a custom ROM and root it but I've always felt like Samsung back in the day had put a lot of effort into the Samsung TouchWiz experience (Even if you liked it or not) so I tend to stick with the stock software and especially since marshmallow is still mostly supported by Google and a lot of apps I was curious to see if that was an option. I haven't been able to flash the stock marshmallow ROM but this afternoon I'm going to try to flash these stock lollipop ROM and maybe if I'm lucky it'll continue on its own to finish the rest of the updates. Now I know that was a lot of complaining but overall the phone itself wasn't good condition besides a little bit of burning and that small crack near the home button. The fingerprint sensor worked flawlessly, on both cameras were great and it doesn't matter if you have a bad battery or not since you can always just get a second one (or third or forth if you don't want to be tethered by a cable) so that's why I only gave it three stars but technically it's still works and it isn't being affected by the 3G shutdown. Love the Note 4...I've purchased 5 of them. The removable battery is great (I always have a spare one charged, just in case I don't have time to wait for a charge. Memory is on a card so you can move all your photos and contacts to a new phone effortlessly (more storage directly on phone as well). Great camera and of course there is the stylus. I ordered 2 of the note 4. One had a slight crack at the bottom of the phone, the other phone is okay other then the fact it sound really low to hear people yes the volume is at it's max. This is a very good phone and comes with so many great features. The battery life is very good but ... if you're on it all day playing movies or games, dont kid yourself, your battery is going to drain much quicker, that's a given. That goes with any phone, even our new one, but over all, a great phone! It's an Android! Nothing but the best! More modern "bang4The$" in communications
The cell phone industry is "whizzing" with tech updates. The avg user is blessed to look to the past for excellent devices. Samsung's Note 4/5 is awesome in design and functionality, especially when the S-pen is used to navigate the android 6 OS. Evening adding more mem is a kindergarten/pre-school picnic. Buy one, you will "like it".
