A Great Upgrade for an Older System
Bought this as a replacement for my GTX 770 card. It is quieter, uses less power, generates less heat inside my case, and is noticeably faster -- even the GUI seems just a bit more responsive, not that it was slow or sluggish. It is in an older system, an Asus Z97 Pro motherboard with a i7-4790K, but it works beautifully. Got it primarily to speed up 3D work. Unfortunately, my main application doesn't seem to take as much advantage as I would like, but it was still a worthwhile upgrade at the current pricing (around $300). I did get the MSI Afterburner tool and set the fan speed curve to be more aggressive and the board is almost always at 36 degrees and rarely goes over 60, even with heavy 3D apps. According to benchmarks, my graphics performance jumped up at least 250% and there is noticeable visual improvements as well. Great card for video and audio editing !
Replaced NVidia Quadro K5000 in my video/audio editing workstation with this MSI NVidia GeForce GTX 1080...huge difference in rendering time and overall performance in Adobe Premiere Pro. Can't speak to those interested in its' gaming capabilities (I'm not a gamer)...but the significant increase in CUDA cores (from ~1500 to ~ 2500) and RAM ($4 to 8GB) was exactly what I needed, and at a great price-point compared to GTX 2060/2070 today.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned
