First thing, this is open box meaning it was returned for a reason. As I plug this unit for the first time, it came up with multi user SSID can’t login and no choice but do a factory reset. It won’t act as a router but as a wifi extension. Doesn’t recognize ethernet cable so just decided to use it as wifi extender. Upgraded the firmware and so far working excellent on distance on 2.4 Ghz and 5G on closer range for much stable streaming. Also uploaded a Netgear app so I can easily access the router functionality. I have a 2,000 sq ft house and was able to tremendously increase my signal from the upstairs bonus room. Before was 3-8 and now 29 mbps minimum. Overall I am happy with the purchase. I believe this unit just needs a little tweaking to deliver its features. Thanks

Fast internet speeds and great range. We have a large home and the range in 2.4 ghz covers our entire home and reaches all the way out to our mail box ( approx. 80 feet from the modem ). In the home we can access 5ghz everywhere and the speed is a lot faster! Over all great product so far, with no issues. Set up was easy and trouble free with Netgear app.

Very easy set up, wifi is strong at longer distance but mid is erratic. I needed a router that has no dropouts and so far so good. The tri- band is a cool feature although all my devices are 2.4 ghz. Looks very cool and the optional 3.0 USB will be nice when needed.

I had seen these at Walmart for $250 and we needed one since I got married with two young boys playing on their phones and a new PS4, my old WiFi was just keeping up. When it arrived, it had all the parts professionally packed like it was refurbished but there was no instructions. At first I was daunted by that but after plugging the cables to where it needed to go, this unit takes over automatically and guides you through the set up process. After running some speed tests, I was downloading 14 Mbps faster than I was and uploading 10 Mbps faster. I cannot complain for the $150 I spent. The only think that I wanted to do was register it but Netgear wouldn't let me since my unit was already used. It is refurbished nicely. I coulnd't tell whether it was a new unit or not. The only give away was the box it came with that looked older. It's doing it's job very well and gives my home and immediate area good coverage without the use of extenders.Read full review
