Any #1 Ladies Detective Agency book is like visiting an old friend, and this book is no exception. The gentle people-focused Botswana culture, conversations, and perspectives soothe the harried soul, even as the world gets crazier by the day. This book certainly hints at current issues of corruption and political manipulation from the perspective of a generally kinder gentler time and place, so it feels contemporary while remaining soothing like a gurgling brook. It is especially delightful that Charlie continues to grow and mature. His immature character annoyed me, while his growing maturity is hopeful and encouraging now. The compassion, the group orientation, and the dignity of people living their lives as a community whether impoverished or not is touching and inspiring. Visiting Africa is always a delight, and this book series is always a visit to Africa.Read full review

It’s a nice story. Explanations tend to drag on a bit with everyone’s opinion being explained and compared.
