Super crispy lens with a lot of useful focal lengths. Large but still reasonable to throw in a backpack. The rings aren't as smooth as my SEL1635G or SEL70300G but it feels much better than a tamron, and OSS is incredible - I can freehand shots down to 1/6s if I'm very steady. Distortion is significant but corrected for in software.

For event shooting, I rarely use a normal zoom, usually I go with a 16-36 and 70-200 2.8’s. I have owned a couple 24-70mm 2.8 GM’a but find this 24-105mm f4 G to be very close optically to the 24-70gm, but much better range when I try to make it with just one lens on an assignment. The facts that it’s smaller and much less expensive are just bonuses!
