NotesOn October 2, 2012, the Jimi Hendrix of the Ukulele, Jake Shimabukuro will defy the limitations of his 4 string, 2 Octave instrument with the release of his new album, GRAND UKULELE. Produced by Alan Parsons, assistant engineer of the Beatles Abbey Road and Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon. Orchestration for the CD was done by Kip Winger, and it's a real treat. The album will not only take Jake to the next level, but is poised to redefine the Ukulele itself.

  • Not enough Jake, way too much orchestra

As much as I love listening to Jake Shimabukuro, his amazing playing is swallowed up on this recording in overproduction and layers of orchestral music. For this reason I would search out one of Jake's live performance recordings or one without the over the top accompaniment this one contains.
