Depressing stuff. Even John Ford Coley's hit "Gone Too Far," a song about not wanting to, but falling in love, makes the good fortune almost feel like tough luck. Now that would have been a very interesting event and could have sustained the careers of all involved.

NotesDanny Wayland "England Dan" Seals, (the younger brother of Jim Seals of the 1970s soft rock duo Seals & Crofts) and John Edward "John Ford" Coley, were active throughout the 1970s. Their second album 'Dowdy Ferry Road' is a beautiful album, full of enchanting melodic songs which yielded two single hits, "It's Sad To Belong" and "Gone Too Far". There is the stripped down acoustic ballad "Don't Feel That Way No More", with just a touch of country and "Soldier In The Rain" is a really ambitious piano ballad, with a progressive middle eight instrumental section. They are all ballads, except for the first track "Dowdy Ferry Road", which is really catchy and some nice guitar work.
A hidden gem in the recording world from two very talented guys. This was a follow up to the album Fables which has always been one of my top five. Recorded at A&M and mixed really well. Great songs and incredible harmonies. These guys stand the test of time. Unfortunately Dan Seals is no longer with us but his music will live on forever and we are better because of it. Comes from a time when bands could really play and sing..
