#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER The popular FOX News star of Tucker Carlson Tonight offers his signature fearless and funny political commentary on how America's ruling class has failed everyday Americans. "You look on in horror, helpless and desperate. You have nowhere to go. You're trapped on a ship of fools." --From the Introduction In Ship of Fools: How a Selfish Ruling Class is Bringing America to the Brink of Revolution, Tucker Carlson tells the truth about the new American elites, a group whose power and wealth has grown beyond imagination even as the rest of the country has withered. The people who run America now barely interact with it. They fly on their own planes, ski on their own mountains, watch sporting events far from the stands in sky boxes. They have total contempt for you. "They view America the way a private equity firm sizes up an aging conglomerate," Carlson writes, "as something outdated they can profit from. When it fails, they're gone." In Ship of Fools, Tucker Carlson offers a blistering critique of our new overlords. Traditional liberals are gone, he writes. The patchouli-scented hand-wringers who worried about whales and defended free speech have been replaced by globalists who hide their hard-edged economic agenda behind the smokescreen of identity politics. They'll outsource your job while lecturing you about transgender bathrooms. Left and right, Carlson says, are no longer meaningful categories in America. "The rift is between those who benefit from the status quo, and those who don't." Our leaders are fools, Carlson concludes, "unaware that they are captains of a sinking ship." But in the signature and witty style that viewers of Tucker Carlson Tonight have come to enjoy, his book answers the all-important question: How do we put the country back on course?
Carlson echoes my thoughts of many years. The fascist left and news media are subverting the news an our history and careening the nation into communism and civil war. The complicit modern Robber Barons retain their wealth at the pleasure of our government. Well researched and communicated.
The title is good, if in the book he would explain why he selected this title.
Not enough was said about the people that were pictured on the front page.
I have 2 years of college and was a supervisor for 19 years for the postal service.
There were too many words that, even with my background, I have never seen or heard of before. You need to have a Masters Degree to know what they meant. I watch Tucker Carlson on Fox news often. He is a good newsman. In my opinion, a layman would not understand the purpose of the contents of this book.
Carlson’s new book is actually better than I thought it would be. I was expecting a good read (just because I’ve learned to respect his take on things, from watching his gig on Fox occasionally). But, for a short book, Ship of Fools was surprisingly deep, without being dense. And Carlson goes out of his way to speak to the left, jettisoning much of the highly charged rhetoric along the way. Highly recommend.
If you can accept that the elite are in command of the ship, this book and its content will give you an idea of just how inept they are at keeping the ship afloat and going in the right direction. Being said, if you don't believe this is taking place, consider that Tucker's opinion is worth reading due to his thought invoking text with proven fact on each page of the book.
A to-the-point summary the changing values of American politicians and wealthy elites in the past few decades.
It was a clear summation of America's current political situation leading up to the election of Donald Trump. Tucker references the misguided actions and stubborn sentiments of many prominent figures from our ruling class that have contributed to this, addressing them each as they are relevant to the subjects of immigration, foreign wars, etc, each of which are detailed in their own chapter. Especially noteworthy is the perspective that he gives about the shifting in values of wealthy liberal politicians, who now cheer for positions that their voting bases denounced decades ago. If you're a fan of his prime-time commentary on Fox, you'll love is unrestrained and deeper analysis of the changing political landscape in the last few decades. As a member of generation Z, I can attest that this book was essential to understanding the lead-up to the society that I and many other young people have inherited.Read full review
