Save your money, Buy a Motorola or equivalent.
After reading other peoples reviews and doing research it seemed these would be a good buy. I bought these to use as radios on our film/TV project. I don't like writing bad reviews, but when it calls for it, I won't lie. THE GOOD: Because, they were easy to set up and for the most part use, and the battery life lasted all day, I give them 2 stars. THE BAD: With a supposed 5W of power we should have been able to communicate at least up to a mile and most GMRS radios with that much wattage say 30 miles. We were lucky if they got a signal in the room next door. Half the time they didn't work at all, the other half was unsatisfactory. We thought perhaps the headset might make a difference. It did. It made the situation even worse. We used them two seperate weekend shoots, one indoors, the other mixed but all close within a 100 yards. We have a car shoot coming up were we will have a camera car, the subject/Character car, and lead car, plus two different men on the ground. We need a radio that can broadcast at least a mile. There is no way these radios will do that. Very disappointed and a huge waiste of money. I can not in good conscience give anything but a double thumbs down to these. Caution when you receive your radios
The radios work great but the 10 radios I received were all programmed on Restricted Law Enforcement Frequencies. Several of the frequencies are currently being used by our Highway Patrol and use of those frequencies can result in a violation of FCC regulations and possibly state laws depending on which state your are located in. The vendor offers free software to change the frequencies so MAKE SURE WHAT FREQUENCY YOU ARE TRANSMITTING ON BEFORE PUSHING THE PUSH TO TALK BUTTON!!Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

We use the radios to operate a Community Outreach Center. They work really good to communicate with staff within our building. If the radios need to be reprogrammed to match other radios, the software is a little hard to understand at first but once you use it, it becomes easier to use. Amazing
Just got them today 5/26/16 The package is as professional as it comes. I have extensive experience with these kinds of radios. I am very impressed. The quality is excellent. The features are what you find on professional radios, like removeable battery. external jack for accessories, Sturdy construction of the case. All of the componets seem to be top quality. As I said these observations of the radios are what I see out of the box. If I can I will give you a review after using them for as while. I don't think I am going to be disappointed. What started this was the need to replace older analog radios. And I had Push to talk buttions from Z-Tactical with a Kenwood plug. These radios have the same female plug. The first thing I did was to plug one in. It worked perfectly. After I show the other officers they will be as impressed as I am. Long distance no problem
We have tried several store bought walkey talky transceivers claiming 16 or more miles and took them back. When we purchased these we looked over the description and took a chance.
