Great looking stylishwatch
This is without a doubt one of the nicely styled Citizen watches currently out there. Being in the USA and since it's radio controlled thru towers in Japan, time is automatically set there. In the USA, I found an English version of the manual(PDF) version, it prints out full pages, so I was able to set(and know how now) this watch. Beautiful and collectible but difficult to set in US.
This is a Japanese domestic market watch. It must be in Japan to radio reset. The manual reset is complex and confusing. If you are a Japanese watch collector this is a fine and interesting addition to a collection. It is not a good choice for a normal watch user. Accurate, lightweight, with great features
Stylish, minimal looks, and accurate timekeeping are what I was looking for. Citizen watches that are typically available in the US have the same looks: markers instead of numbers, hands that are more narrow, with extra dials for minutes, hours, etc. I was looking for a watch with a cleaner face, numbers at the hour markers, good lumen, and a day/date at the 3:00 position. I prefer using their atomic timekeeping technology, as I don't have to set anything or check to see that the time is accurate. This watch has it! It's very lightweight (the titanium case and bracelet see to that), and it looks good sitting on my wrist. I usually wear something a little bigger, but the size is fine (especially given the simpler face). While this was a JDM watch, I have been able to set the time using the JJY Emulator on Android. I get an accurate time setting within a couple of minutes of starting the app, so my concerns about the Japan-only atomic clock setting were alleviated. One of the best quartz analogue tool watches on the market.
The Citizen PMD56-2952 is highly legible, the numerals are fully and thickly lumed, the second hand hits all the indices perfectly (and even if it did not, that could be corrected on the watch using the Perfex system), the watch is light, the clasp has a three step easy-link system for on the fly micro-adjustments, the DLC coating should be excellent for scratch resistance, the A/R/ coating on the domed sapphire crystal works pretty well, and it also looks great on a black cordura strap. This watch only has two downsides: The need to emulate the JJY radio atomic sync frequency using a phone (or RaspberryPi), and the bracelet end links don't fit that tightly to the lugs.
