These things mount easy with 4 flat head screws. I mounted mine inside the door of my smaller cheaper gun safe. It had no metal behind the carpeted drywall on the door. I removed the carpeted drywall and used a drill to drill the holes all the way through then mounted with 4 8-32 x 1" screws with nuts and fender washers on the back side. The magnets are very strong and hold pistols and magazines to the door securely . If there is anything I would improve it would maybe wish they were a bit longer. '

I bought this to retain a mid size 22lr semi auto Beretta NEOS pistol at my bedside. I mounted it against the night stand to have easy access while I lay in bed and to keep it out of sight. The quality seemed to be fair but when you hold it in your hand it feels very light which means that the magnets must be small. I mounted it with 2 screws I had in the odds and ends drawer since they WERE NOT included which is odd to me that they weren’t. I found it necessary to mount my gun horizontal to the floor to keep it concealed and had to balance my pistol in its center to keep it from twisting and rotating off onto the floor. This Beretta weighs 35.3 oz so it is not compact or extremely big as it is 10.2” long and 5.2” tall. Before mounting the magnet I did an experiment and attached the magnet to the gun and giggled it around to replicate bumps in the road if I had chosen to use it in my vehicle and just as I suspected, due to it’s lack of weight and strength of the magnet, the gun easily separated from the magnet and fell onto the bed. I WOULD NOT trust it in an automobile but I think that it would work on a stationary object like a desk, night stand or bed just fine. ( 25# weight captivity isn’t accurate when you consider the irregular shape of guns) I personally bought a LOCKDOWN for around $20 for my vehicle and it seems to be better suited to bumps and vibrations.Read full review

The only reason I did not give this great item was, it could have a touch stronger magnet(s). I really appreciate the way the magnet stand off the main part that attaches to the car, cabinet, et al. My biggest complaint about other magnetic firearm holders was how close they made the weapon hug the wall. These magnetic holders give you some space for easier grasping of a weapon. Great job.

the magnets will indeed hold 25 lbs each..UNLESS its the awkward shape, or the material in my trying, of a glock 19. if you mount 1 magnet the gun will spin and fall off when full magazine is inserted, then you are left with 2 holes in your car, so i had to add the 2nd magnet just to hold a small pistol. still have yet to see if it falls off under my brake pedal again!! 2 would 100% NOT HOLD A SHOTGUN or an AR in anything moving. would not have drilled holes and done this if I had known i my truck. for home or office use where it is stationary, it would work fine

It was very inexpensive and it does what it supposed to. The finish is smooth cover with plastic so it protects the finish on the gun. I don't know if it would actually hold 25 lbs, but it is more than enough to hold a pistol or a shot up. REALLY GOOD BUY!!! I will get this again if I need another one.
