I've owned two Leica M 50mm APO Summicron lenses and ended up selling them both because they just didn't have the Leica look I've always enjoyed. They are clinically perfect lenses, but the transition from sharp to out of focus areas was rather boring looking. The version I purchased was made in 1989 and is one of the Walter Mandler designs, known for the way they render the out of focus areas. The lens is also tack sharp, even at f/2.0 and has no noticeable focus shift. Another thing I like about this lens is that it's light and compact.
