  • Must have for Kit Bashers and Scratch Builders

There are a few skills and tools anyone who is interested in the "Craftsman" side of model railroading should familiarize themselves with. Drilling and tapping new holes for various screws sizes is one of those skills. 0-80 is one of the typical sizes of screws used in model railroading along with 0-90, 2-56 and 4-40. Very easy to use this set to create a hole that will accept an 0-80 screw. Don't be intimidated. Try it! Kadee makes it easy with this three part set.

  • Nice Tap, but drill bits not so good.

The tap worked great, but the drill bits did not I could not drill through a mild carbon steel as I had to order a carbide drill bit.. I was supposed to get two drills: One No. 55 Tap Drill and one No. 52 Clearance Drill, but neither drill was marked and they both looked the same size. I couldn't tell the difference between the two. In the end, it didn't make any difference because I ordered a No. 55 carbide (tap) drill from a different company. Remember to use a drop of machine oil when tapping. One of the drill bits broke, which is why I ordered the carbide instead.

  • 0-80 tap with drill bits.

This is a very important drill and tap set if you own ho scale trains. I'm sure it will work with all scale of models. I do know my ho Brass Sunset J1 - 2-10-4 Texas Steam Locomotive has this size and smaller. Works good just have a very gental hand .
