Allows large diameter cables, soow 10/3 easily. However I have carefully drilled these to much larger cables. I take the plug apart and then clamp the clamping parts, there are two pieces, (plastic) accurately in a drill press and use a woodworking bit (forstner bits)to drill the hole larger - but be careful not too large. I use a pre-drilled block of wood to help hold the plastic clamp(s) parts in place for drilling.
