A great tool for instilling a love of history!
We are currently enjoying the entire Story of the World series as a family. Volume 2: The Middle Ages has been a great deal of fun to read. The Story of the World: Interesting and Succinct at the Same Time
My daughter (2nd grade) gets little to no history instruction in school and when they have a "special" period focused on history, it is limited (for the most part) to the currently evolving history of the United States. I bought this book (as well as the prior, Volume I) to supplement her understanding of world history and the connectivity of world events. In the beginning, I would read sections of the book to her, moving chronologically through time.
