I have had an AMP Research bed step on my Tundra for the last 10 years. Still looks great and works flawlessly. I just purchased a new 2018 F-250 and purchased a AMP Research step less than one week after new truck purchase. Installation is very easy, instructions are clear. This step works great with tailgate up or down, and unlike the factory Ford step that is built into the tailgate, I can still use the AMP step with my boat or travel trailer hooked up to the truck. No doubt it was a good idea to install the step. It is about 17” from ground level and another 19.5” to the open tailgate. The step on to the open tailgate might be a bit much for an older feeling guy, but it is a big help for shorter folks. Easy to install with an impact wrench.
