I was happy to find this book as it's out of print, but had very strong online reviews still. I prefer it to most if not all the other childrens' cookbooks I saw currently in bookstores. It's a well thought out book, full of fun recipes that kids will really want to eat and make, the directions are thorough and clear, and the paper stock is sturdy and will withstand a little food grime from kids hands. I bought it for my 9 year old nephew for Xmas as he enjoys baking, and first thing the next morning he went downstairs and made the muffin recipe. The muffins were really good, even to my grownup taste. Previous reviewers had mentioned that the recipes are good enough for grownup taste and I agree. I also got Abigail Johnson Dodge's Kid's Baking book, which is outstanding. These books are classics and I highly recommend them.Read full review

This cookbook has practical advice on every aspect of food preparation and is illustrated to make following correct procedures and techniques simple as well as safe. My granddaughter, age 10, has served wholesome, nutritious and beautifully prepared meals for the family. My daughter finds that the recipes are not the usual sweet treat and finger food fare so often presented in a children's cookbook--and has used the simple recipes herself. This is an excellent first cookbook to foster a genuine love for the art of cooking.
Great cookbook for kids

I sent this cookbook to two kids just getting interested in cooking. They love it and are already making recipes and making more grocery lists!
