NotesWhile many artists have come and gone, why have Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings only continued to grow steadily in popularity around the world? The reason is simple: There is no other band around today that plays with the rhythm, feeling, or explosive power of the Dap-Kings, and there is no other singer that can match the energy and honest soul of Sharon Jones. The culmination of these soulful attributes has never been so meticulously manifested as on their latest waxen treasure, GIVE THE PEOPLE WHAT THEY WANT.

  • Such a great album

I saw Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings touring with The Tedeschi Trucks band in 2015. They nearly stole the show, it was so good! This was the album I picked up. I have to admit I gave it one a few listens and hadn't revisited it until the last couple months. Immediately when Retreat comes on I just fall into a trance and the rest of the album just carries you through. Making Up and Breaking Up is very sweet too. This album is great, this band is great. I am amazed that they made this kind of music is the 2000's. I've since picked up the rest of their albums and they're all great as an 11 piece band making soul music tends to be. Enjoy!
