A Christmas fantasy
Wholesome, feel-good Christmas story from Max Lucado, who is an author with a gift with words. I found a few parts of the story a bit difficult to follow, but over all, the story of a village full of people, each with their own needs and issues, hoping to be the recipient of the "magical" Christmas candle is interesting. It was not preachy for the most part. It was fun to see Susan Boyle, the famous soloist, as one of the characters. A Gem of a Christmas movie
For a Hallmark movie, The Christmas Candle is one of the best Christmas movies I have seen in quite a while. The characters are relatable and while there is plenty of emotion in this film, it is not sappy in the least. Anything I've read or watched that Max Lucado has done is usually high quality which we are in need of these days. I enjoyed the time period of this movie and many of the characters. It was a bit dark in the scenery at times but then that was the time period. The accent of the candles made you realize just how dark life was without sufficient light plus it set the stage for the importance of the spiritual light in an individual's life.
