Backed up several other external drives with at leady another 1TB for one. Added literally thousands of more scans using Scansnap scanner...didn't phase this thing. Fast, do far reliable. Last 500GB WD has lasted 12 years, or 3-4x its life expectancy. Have had other brands fail in less than 3 years. Will buy 2 more. One to switch out at least every two weeks, one for deep storage, long-term in case of Ransomware. Have already been hit once 2 years ago. Latest Model WD My Passport 4TB External Hard Drive Fragile Cheap Construction
Product was DOA. Not recognized when connected to several different computers and several different USB ports. Vendor gave a prompt refund after product was returned. The product shown in picture did not match the product received. It was much smaller and lighter. I have three of the previous versions of this model and have had no problem with them. I would be leery of buying this particular model as it seems very fragile. Very light and no rubber feet to keep it stationary on a smooth surface. WD 4Tera portable Hard Drive USB 3 Easy Mac Reformat.
Tough review. The WD device is going to save my particular butt. I bought this because it was cheap. Low on cash, high on Startup Disk problems. Needed 4 TB size to backup the internal Drive in i7 Mac. Backed up my data to reformat drive and start over. Everything worked out. Great external Hard Drive
This product is just amazing and it has 4TB of memory it to be exact it comes with a stock storage of 3.64TB of memory still it’s amazing. I just liberated most of my computers storage into the hard drive and it didn’t even made a 1/10 of the actual storage. It has its original box and papers and 3.0 transfer cable. The product it’s just perfect but the way the seller sent it wasn’t meant for it. Normally products of that standard are packed inside a box with a label saying delicate. But it came in a Manila envelope. Sure for the price I can’t ask more. Aside from that I’m satisfied with the product and probably will by again from this seller.

Amazingly fast using USB 3.0, after being formatted using WD Drive Utilities
Couldn't get PCs to read drive - Not sure why but my initial online searches brought up nothing on this, but finally I found the WD site's support software, named WD Drive Utilities for Windows. Clicked Erase and boom, finally my Win7 tower and Win10 laptop could read it. Another way is to use Win10's built in features, explained explained in WD's article "How to format a WD hard drive to exFAT or FAT32 file system". Small, Fast, Quiet & Affordable
This thing looked great in the pics and seemed to have really good reviews (I also checked Amazon reviews). I'm a software developer by trade so I'm a bit of a techie. That said, I work on OSX (Mac) and even though this is formatted to Windows it took all of 60 seconds to reformat it from NTFS to HFS+ within Disk Utility. It's currently transferring 297GB worth of files and quoting 5 hours to completion (that's FAST). I remember buying a 1TB HD years ago for $175 or so, and it was 3X the size. This WD Passport is small has 3X the capacity and was a great value at $115. So yeah, I'm totally satisfied all around.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

It's Western Digital Quality
Drive works fine. very quiet. Write speeds aren't bad. Un-mounts when I want it to unlike other drives that give me a message stating the drive is in use when it shouldn't be. Over all it works fine. You know how it is...suddenly drive starts getting inaccessable, slow, then the dreaded chip...the click is not far behind..... what shall I do? EBAY! Found the WD Passport 4gb...now if I can only get it to the house in time. I have a 4 year old WD Passport which I like very much but this new one is even faster! I like to save lots of pictures and videos so I use quite a bit of space. No problem.
