Current slide {CURRENT_SLIDE} of {TOTAL_SLIDES}- Save on Receivers & Transmitters
I recently reentered the RC world by getting into airplanes. I purchased an RTF (ready to fly) model that came with an inexpensive transmitter. It works well, but is limited. For example, I couldn't control the plane's flaps because the transmitter didn't have enough channels, and I was unable to reprogram the transmitter at the field without a computer or additional equipment to support a cellphone. I joined an RC flyer's club in my area and asked around. Universally the transmitter that everyone recommended for Spektrum receivers was the Spektrum DX-9 black edition. I was told to start at the DX-9 because I wouldn't have to buy another transmitter again. The quality over the DXEa transmitter that came with my RTF plane is significantly better. The DX-9 has a large display and can be programmed at the field, on the fly without a computer. The additonal SD CARD slot means you have access to an unlimited number of plane, helo, glider, etc setups. The gimbals feel great and are easily adjustable for tension without taking anything apart. Also, the ability to set up mixes for coordinated turns, assign your mixes to switches, and have a voice tell you exactly what the switch does is great to have. Additionally, 9 channels gives you enough for all four necessary functions (throt, rudd, aile, and elev) plus flaps, landing gear, etc. The DX-9 BE is fairly expensive but can be found on eBay for a significantly reduced price over a new unit. If you fly Spektrum, the DX-9 BE transmitter should be your starting point when looking to upgrade.Read full review

the spektrum dx 9 loses the signal a few meters, that is, it enters fail safe; the manufacturer takes this situation into account and suggests changing the antennas and receivers, which I did without obtaining any improvement; I finally lost my glider a phoenix 2400 which had a spektrum ar8010t receiver; gps spektrum, spektrum variometer, spektrun satellite antenna, 6 digital metal servos; and its respective battery; It didn't help me that all the accessories were spektrum; I ask the spektrum brand to reimburse me and the value paid for the radio plus the cost of shipping as well as the glider that I lost which has a value of 700 dollars ... I do not have to lose it if I followed all the recommendations of the maker

I used a DX6e and this is almost identical. Very easy to switch over. Like the audible warnings.

I wish you could order the black edition flight box to go with it.

This TX has all of the bells and whistles that you could want for a 9 channel. Like the option for including vocal announcements of channel selections or movements.
