A solid tripod makes your camera steady when you shoot a photo. But before and after that you need to be able to position the camera quickly and precisely. That is the job of the ball head, and just as there is no substitute for a really good tripod, there is no substitute for a really good ball head. A cheaper one will hold your camera, but not as steadily and a half second later than a good one. It does what you want with out distracting you from your reason for being there, which is capturing the best possible photos. Can't recommend it too much!

The tripod ball head is solid and sturdy, well built. It is great to have the friction adjustment, it is heavier and larger than I expected for mobility. The screw and tightening mechanism had scratches and some paint chipped off. I'd expect it to be perfectly clean as it is a new product. The edges aren't totally smooth either, these parts shown in the photo are sharp.

I've had a "watch" for this to hit my affordability threshold and now that it did, I couldn't be more pleased. I have another great Manfrotto tripod head that supports a heavy telescope/camera rig. I replace it with this for photo shoots and its so much lighter to carry. Very fluid.

This is a great tripod head. It is well made of quality materials and is light weight and sturdy. I have tried more expensive heads and this one was as good. F or the price You you can't go wrong.
