This is the control panel to have with the knob and analog meter. Keep the power less than 15mA. The digital panel will not tell you how much power you’re using and you can overpower the tube. Don’t bother with the included software. Get the free software called K40 Whisperer and follow the instructions. Other things to note: remove the spring loaded thing in the middle. It’s useless. It will cut 1/4” Baltic birch plywood fairly reliably at 5mm/sec. 1/8” at 11-12mm/sec. the same goes for Acrylic. The 12x12 plywood that Amazon sells works well and you can slide it under the exhaust port without having to cut it down. You also want an air assist to keep the wood from getting a small flame and having smoke weaken the beam. The 3D printed ones from eBay are fine. The metal ones suck because they’re a pain to align the cup perfectly. If a plastic one isn’t perfect, the laser makes it work :). For cooling, I use a 5 gallon Home Depot bucket with 3-4 gallons of distilled water. If the water gets warm, the laser loses efficiency. If you put a lot of ice in the water, you can damage the tube, so don’t do that. I know from experience :). You want the water to be around 70 degrees F or 20 C. Read full review
