Fantastic piece of equipment
I wish I had pulled the trigger on one of these a long time ago. I can now do in seconds what used to take minutes of exasperation! I have yet to find a way that a common indicator stand is half as good! If you don't have one and use an indicator more than twice a year you need one! Just be careful to get the correct one choices between metric and inch and with or without magnets and size differences can be a little confusing. Excellent Design Concept
This item is very functional and very fast to use compared to the ordinary Mag Bases out there. It appears to be quite expensive in the U.K compared to the USA for example, so one feels a bit cheated. There are the usual copies out there costing a lot less but I am told the quality leaves a lot to be desired so to an extent you tend to get what you pay for. New tech for an old wreck
I retired 3 years ago and I got bored so I started watching you tube machining videos. It seemed that everyone in those videos had a NOGA of some sort. Misters, magnetic bases, big and little. Last month I bought an old lathe real cheap and I knew that it was going demand TLC and constant measuring. I bought this magnetic base and I was able to attach various measuring and monitoring devices in order to make adjustments to my new lathe. Held tight and made my testing much more reliable. This is the BEST indicator holder I've ever used.
I've lived with cheep import holders for many years. They worked, but only for runout use. I needed to measure a lathe spindle taper accurately over a 100 mm movement. This holder is stiff, and does not move with increased pressure from the indicator as the spring inside the indicator changes the pressure on the contact point. So now the only error is from the indicator non repeatable hysteresis. Why did I wait so long to buy this. Spend 3x the money and get a product that is 10X better. The bottom zero is a must. It keeps your hands away from the indicator arm, and lets you zero it quick without any unintended forces while rotating the upper zero adjustment screw.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
