Essential for an understanding of small arms in the Civil War
A real, unexpected treat is this book. It covers every facet of small arms manufacture, development and usage. It's essential for anyone that seriously collects bullets from the Civil War. The writing is superb and it's obvious that Dean Thomas has had a long love-affair with small arms ammo covering 40 or more years of collecting. A truly marvelous effort by one of the greatest historians when it comes to artifacts of the Civil War. I recommend all four volumes in this series.
