Congrats to Pleasant Co. Publications, and Harriet Brown for putting another wonderful American Girl Travel story book together. The story takes place during the Great Depression of the nineteen thirties. Even though the characters are fictionalized, the writings are accurate, and based on real events. There are little pull-out treats for the reader to enjoy almost as much as Kit did on her trip to Glacier National Park! The historical events are accurate and thrill our eleven year old traveller, as they would've if they happened to any of us then or now! The only thing I disliked about this book was that it was too short! I own the other "travelling" story books, and this one ranks right up there with the "Welcome To _______'s World" series. I recomend this book to any little history buff, as well as completing any American Girl series. I rate it a Big Ten out of Five stars! Nancy PoquadeckRead full review
A really wonderful book. I want to explain to my grandchildren what a fun experience it was for me to ride the train as a youngster. This is a great illustration of experience.

I think it would be excellent chance for Todays child to share a sample of what it was like on a train ...everyone who could afford it rode the train in those days because of the depression. I was not alive then but in the 40s when I was old enough I rode the train with my grandmother..Even the older adults now have never ridden on a train..What a shame it is so wonderful..I still remember when I rode the train at 6 years old by myself 20 miles to see my grand mother. It was 30 minutes of pure joy...Thanks for the book.. Sincerely. nsfenwick@yahoo.com
I really enjoyed this book and will reread it many times. Very nice pictures and historical to the times of FDR.

Bought this book so that my granddaughter could see what a real train was like was for Kit back in the 40's. A beautiful book, great illustration and fun thing to keep the trip interesting for Kit! A wonderful book!!!
This is a wonderful book that follows the story of Kit's adventure to Glacier National Park. While the book tells the story, it does it with a scrapbook tone, so the added embellishments make it more realistic. The illustrations were delightful. Definitely a lovely book to own.
This is a book with pockets. Be sure all the pockets have all the pieces needed. Mine was incomplete, an easy oversight as the rest of the book looked good. It is not a storybook per se, but I did know that when I bought the item.
This is a great book. It has many pull out activities and is very fun to read. It is educational, but not boring at all. It is great to read with someone else or alone. I would recommend this book for all ages.
