I have been brand loyal to FRAM since I first owned cars in the 1980’s. I always chose FRAM hands down.
Living in FL it gets very hot and a lot of pollen. A true HEPA would be a miracle - only it became an absolute nightmare on my Mercedes.
Popped it right up and in live I have been doing every six months for 20-years (yes - they had them back then).
The air flow on this was so restricted you could hold a Bic lighter to the vent, fan on max cool, barely a flicker.
I blamed one of the people in my shop for forgetting to either remove the plastic cover, inserting the air flow the wrong way or both. I personally disassembled it and had to eat my words, my tech literally had it flawless.
The filter density is thick the air literally cannot pass through the filter media quickly enough to exit the vents. The filter already had indicators of caving to the stress, picked up a regular activated charcoal (MANN Premium) it was like the great sea had parted! The inside temp dropped 15 degrees in 10-minutes or less.
I have absolutely no doubt had we left that it the fan would be burned out before summer.
I still stand by MOST FRAM PRODUCTS however this was a very glaring and oblivious failure making why they would even entertain releasing it understanding the backlash FRAM Consumers will have on the Company.
FRAM is a good old America Company, founded right here in Rhode Island in 1932. Pure America Ingenuity. With the release of this, you can’t help but feel shame, look down and turn your head the other way. No damage control either, still on the market. Perhaps profit has finally overtaken craftsmanship and Pride at a once Great America Company.
