I have always had problems with chemistry. I only just received this book. So I have done little more than thumb through it at this point. However, with what I remember from High School chemistry, I believe this book might be a big help. I plan on reviewing the materials in this book. Then I will be looking into obtaining a similar book on Bio-Chemistry. It is the annoying and possibly criminal practices in the medical profession of prescribing medicines for patients only to find severe -- even dangerous interactions between prescribed medications; effects when pharmacies profess they cannot get critical medications and taking these medicines suddenly stop; or the prescribing physician(s) get the patient started on medications and inform them after a month or so that missing two to three doses "are lethal" and that "death is not preventable in such instances. This, fully knowing the frequent problems with getting prescription refills. Since the medical profession seems to have a tendency towards dishonesty; especially when dealing correctly with informing patients properly before life and death decisions, it is only prudent to attempt a little self education and retain competent legal consul. My purchasing this book is only the start of becoming more informed after a number of very close near-death calls in America's VA Medical Systems.Read full review

I'm taking some graduate level courses in Biochemistry as part of my advanced degree requirements. It's been some years since my last Chemistry course, so I needed a quick and dirty reference that would succinctly clarify concepts. Actually, I bought quite a few books like this one, but ended up returning all but "Chemistry for Dummies." The other books were either too elementary, without clarity, or as complicated as the textbook I'm using this semester. I have to laugh because I actually enjoy reading it! If you need a quick reference source that's just to help you understand problems and concepts, this is it. This is not a replacement for a full text, but a good supplemental resource.
This book is ideal for prenursing students. Far less expensive than textbooks - even used textbooks - chosen by even community colleges, but it has all the same material or almost the same that was in the prenursing chemistry course I took. It also would be the ultimate review guide for those in prenursing chemistry courses - and would easily enable you to get an "A" on every test! (Opinion of someone who got an "A" in the course.)
This book really helped me understand the chem part of my physics class. Plain English and humor make this enjoyable to read!

I bought this book for my son and myself. It’s been a useful tool with helping us understand the basics in order to understand the complex.
