Great upgrade option for 3x9 flat bar bikes
These thumb shifters are a huge improvement over Acera, Alivio, Altus, and even Grip Shift shifters for 3x9 flat bar bikes. This model (SL-T09) can be set up as indexed or friction in the rear and friction in the front. The indexed shifting in the back is very precise (better than Ultegra or Dura Ace bar end shifters), and the friction shifting in the front prevents the dreaded derailleur/chain drag that is inevitable with mid-priced indexed front shifters/derailleurs. The thumb shifting ergonomics is excellent and intuitive. These should be set up with the paddles approximately parallel to the brake levers, with plenty of room between the brake lever clamps and the shifter clamps. I am happy that I discovered these shifters. These shifters can turn a $500 bike into something that shifts as smoothly as a $1,000-plus bike. Please be aware that MicroShift makes a different model 3x9 that offers only friction shifting in the rear.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
