  • 2625 postwar pullman's

Very nice set of cars. These coaches had very good paint for their age. These coaches go with engines 671,2332 ,726 & 773. Made for a nice looking toy train set when your where young.and all eyes. Several set variations these beautiful coaches were in by Lionel in 1947. They were given three names over the years but started out as Irving. The hardest coach set to acquire is the 2625 with three different names. This is a great addition to all collectors. I have all of them and enjoy looking at them on my wall.

  • Madison 3 car heavyweight Pullman set, 1946

The Madison heavyweight set of Pullmans was produced in NYC in 1946 by the Lionel Corp, It is a maroon (Tuscan) metal, 3 car set consisting of the 2625 Madison, the 2627 Irvington, and the 2628 Manhattan. The Manhattan is a "tail" or Observation car with the rear porch vestibule and two marker lights (red and green) facing aft. There are also two metal figurines of a man and woman waving (Good Bye?) standing on the rear "porch" vestibule. The Manhattan car also has a coil wound coupler on the rear, so it can be released with an accessory track controller. All trucks are metal and the car interiors are illuminated by a single 14 VAC GE light bulb (screw base) to show the silhouettes of passengers in the windows. The set is heavy and requires a locomotive with Magne-traction or significant draw bar strength to get the roll off without slipping the drivers. Due to car length, looks best on 72 in radius, Tighter corners will cause sideswipes on a tighter layout pike with smaller radii.
