for polishing this is the one you want it is butter smooth and it leaves that really soft polished mirror surface which makes a blade cut better from what I understand anyway, yeah the yellow 1000 will mirror as well but not like this one so if it makes a difference to you then this is the right stone, as a side note if a lanskey stone ever falls off its base just use superglue the gel preferably.

If you have the "Lansky Sharpening System" this stone is essential. I have the 4 stone diamond deluxe system, the sapphire stone is an amazing addition and adds a fantastic finish to the blade edge.

This is the latest and best stone Lansky has provided for the final stage and touch up sharpening/polishing of any blade. Just be sure to keep it clean and not use any honing oil, and it is very fragile, don't drop it.

I think there are better sharpeners out there. That goes without saying. But for an ease of use, value of the base sharpening System, and no work whatsoever for a beginner nothing beats the lansky. And once you do a few and you get the hang of it your them have to get the sapphire. It puts that final just slice on that blade. It’s so little but you will see, it’s so much more. Now I need the diamond kit

Works great, I use it after ultra fine, the follow with a leather stropping with green compound. The super sapphire does good at final polishing.
