Sturmey Archer 90mm Drum Brake Dynamo Hub
I converted one of my bikes to electric this year. During the year I went through 3 sets of disc brake pads on the front and 2 in the back, in about 3000 miles.I decided to try a drum brake on the front, and so far it has been great. I would use one in the back if I could, but the bike has a hub motor wheel in the back. With the drum in the front it does not stop as quite as fast as with a disc brake, but fast enough. The drum brake is silent and not affected by weather conditions, hopefully it will last a long time. If I decide to do a mid drive electric bike conversion, I will probably use a drum brake hub on both wheels. The dynamo is great, I use them on several bikes, built in lights is the best way to go. Very nice product looks sharp excellent braking power simple design. I have no dropout for brakes in the front and this is the solution almost the power of discbrakes with none of the hassle of brackets adjusting alignment just bolt in wheel attach cable tighten you got brakes. I put on my motorized bicycle and it stops this is the only brake I have and is powerful enough on its own to stop me from 30mph! It works!
