Unless you like to know you've bought something "new" this refurbished item could be right for you. The price is a fraction of the new product. Mine came in its original box but that's probably not guaranteed to happen. I was reassured that the unit is certified to be up to OEM standards and it's worked flawlessly for me, albeit for only a short time since installation. I bought this modem because it was on the Cox recommended list (Google: cox approved cable modems). Cox is our local least-favorite internet provider but it has the monopoly on cable services so we complain in vain. Calling Cox about frequent service outages usually degraded to a hardware/software scrum where everything from their side "looks good." The one intangible issue was that I continued to use an older Cox modem with the DOCIS 2.0 protocol so I decided to take that out of the equation. I looked for a newer DOCIS 3.0 modem. Setup was pretty easy but I did have to call Cox so they could register the MAC ID and Serial Number of the device on my account. Both numbers are on a label on the device. Then the usual [1] Power everything down, [2] Power on the modem until all its lights are full on [no blinking], [3] Power on the wireless router until it has run through its startup diagnostics [again, full green light on Apple Time Capsule], [4] Power on the computer. Still occasional internet outages and it could be my imagination they are less frequent than before. No perceptible increase in speed but no side-by-side comparison with prior DOCIS 2.0 modem possible. I feel good about the purchase, though.Read full review

DONT BUY REFURBISHED aka JUNK ans will waste your time and money WITH the good deals of the manufacturers that cant get it right the second time around.! Had also bought an ASUS router from same liquidator here that did work for couple of week, then it too went south lost 2.4ghz signal. My susgestion stick with the rented equipment of Comcast / Xfinitity combo modem/router. It works and dont have to spend hours and hours only to find out that the refurbished is rubish!

Good: Worked great and got over 80Mbps which is higher than the advertised 70Mbps plan from Comcast. The modem had no cosmetic marks and looks to be refurb by ARRIS Bad: The modem emits a bright blue light so I tucked it away out of sight. On initial activation from Comcast they informed me that it was activated in another market/region and could not use it. Then magically 10 minutes later they were able to activate it with their systems. As mentioned early it was most likely refurbed by Arris and not the seller so it would be more an Arris issue. However, the old cable provider probably should have deactivated it from their systems properly.

Great little cable modem that works really well. The only problem is the LEDs are super bright and with the case having good ventilation this box illuminates the area brightly. The only way to reduce the light given off is to open the case (pretty much have to break one clip) and put tape or white out over the LEDs. So if you keep your network gear in a room you want to be dark be sure to keep this in mind.

Bought this modem at a good price and so far it does what I need it to do... No issues at all, doesn't really heat up. blue and green L.E.D's for the status indicators looks really nice...this modem is kinda samll compared to my last one so that's a plus for me. so far I'm happy with this modem, and the best part is I don't need to pay a monthly rental fee anymore! :) would definitely recommend to pick one up
