XS Big Dot on Ruger SP101
The factory black front sight on the SP101 is a bit weak for quick acquisition, especially against a dark background. The XS Tritium Big Dot front sight is what I was looking for. Big white dot for quick acquisition and a tritium insert for low light usage. Installation instructions were precise and although I was nervous about drilling the hole for the sight pin, the end result turned out great. I highly recommend using the included 'lock tight' or keep downward pressure on the front sight while drilling the hole; the sight tends to walk up while drilling. Because of the different sight picture with the Big Dot, the point of impact changed slightly but not enough to matter. Target acquisition was quick and easy. Good, not great
It feels to be of good quality and the sight is plenty visible at night, installation is a pain since the sight didn't sit flush on my ruger and if you don't line it up right you risk drilling the hole off the edge, I recommend to take to a gunsmith besides how easy YouTube makes it look. Also I Didn't like that I couldn't draw my weapon without the sight snagging on my iwb leather holster. That was he biggest turn off for me I removed it and went with meprolight instead. If you have a kydex holster you should be ok and this big dot is plenty big enough to line up a shot on the fly. X-S Big Dot
I have this type of sight on another revolver and I like them enough to buy another one. They are just the thing for aging eyes and I’m totally impressed with them. The factory installed (S & W) X-S sight is the smaller one, it’s okay, but doesn’t show up as well as this one.

XS Big Dot Tritium Express Sight Set S&W J Frame
I have used this sight on other guns in the past so I knew how well it works. You can't miss the big dot out at the end of the barrel sitting in the rear sight. It might take some practice at the range to get used to the sight picture. I was able to install the sight in about 15 minutes; there are several YouTube videos that explain how to do it. Better than expected
It was easier to install than expected. XS sights drill a hole under the sight, so when you drill from both sides, you hit a void making it less crucial that you drill perfectly straight. The only thing that should be added to the instruction that I received is the drill bit size I needed, which was a #54 if I remember correctly. A quick Google search will yield more detailed instructions of others who have installed this same item. Once I got everything together, all said and done it took me maybe 20 minutes to install, if that long. No fitting was required for my J frame. The sight dropped in perfectly. 50 rounds of full house 357 loads and the sight hasn't moved a mm. And more importantly at 15-20 yards I ripped a soda can into little pieces. Did not affect accuracy for me at all. My weapon is a 2 1/4 inch barrel, so distance shooting was never going to happen. This sight is a great addition to my gun. I highly recommend it for any short barrel revolver! You quickly know where your front sight is pointing and that green glow in low light is awesome. Makes finding your gun in the dark easier as well. I'm putting one on my sp101 as soon as possible. You won't be disappointed with this sight! I know I'm not.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

I ordered this for my wife's revolver. The Stock front sight is hard to see in less than perfect light. I followed instruction on YouTube and it works perfectly. Great sight
I added this sight to my SP101 and it made such a difference. Groups got much smaller. I can actually hit what I aim at now instead of looking for the front sight . It installed easily in about 5 minutes. You have to drill from both sides for it to work right.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
