Excellent Mossberg 500 Scope Mount
I am a machinist, so I know a bit about parts and materials. This thing is excellent in materials and in execution. The machining is superb. The rail is wonderfully tight; just as it should be. I have a laser mounted on it at present, and it would barely fit. That is the way it should be! Almost too tight. I had mounted that laser on a scope mount for a SKS rifle and it was so loose I would have had to shim it. The clearances were probably a couple of thousandths of an inch off. This mount is right on, and it you used it to mount a scope to shoot slugs, it will shoot like a rifle. If you can't hit with this mount, then your scope is messed up or you aren't doing your part. It would have helped if it had fit!!
It was a real pain to put on!! The hole for the bolt didn't line up and I had to use a round file and make the slot for the front screw deeper about 1/8 of an inch. There was just no way the long bolt was going to thread into the other side!it was OK after I finally got it filed out. Just go a little and try it.
