Nice axe low cost.
Let's start this off by saying the axe was not sharp out the box , this was not a problem for me if you are good with a sharping stone this should not be a problem. About 20 - 25 mins and you should have a fine edge on this axe , the head is on tight ,used it a few time and it kept a nice edge. The handle is hickory and the collins axe is made in mexico if you want a sharp axe out the box don 't get this one spend about 25 - 30 dollars more for better axe , but for me this is a nice axe for under 20.00 $.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Good axe, but handle is 16 1/2 inches, not 18
Axe handle, head, etc are fine for an axe of this price. Purists will want to put a razor's edge on them...hacks like me used it straight out of the box for camping and it worked fine. Note the handle on the axe I received was 16 1/2 inches, not the 18 specified in the item description. I've attached a photo showing this measurement, thus three stars versus 5.

Excellent little axe.for the money !
Outstanding value for the money. Proper grain orientation in the handle. Factory edge left something to be desired but I had it razor sharp in less than 30 minutes and it holds its edge very well. I personally do not like varnish or lacquer on a tool handle, I scrapped it off and applied 3 hand rubbed coats of Linseed Oil and even in the rain the grip is great. Lastly I drilled and chamfered a lanyard hole and added a leather lanyard. If you are looking for a Camp or utility axe this one is amazing quality for the price.
