The Cab-1 is obsolete. It works reliably with early generation Lionel Powermaster train control modules for conventional locomotives, and with the older powerbase for control of Legacy locomotives. Not compatible with some of the most recent Lionel products. I only run old Powermaster modules, so this does everything I need. The bearings of the large, red the control knob wear out with years of use, rendering the Cab-1 unreliable with erratic speed control. (Trains will speed up uncontrollably when you try to reduce the speed - causing high speed derailments. Watchout!) That's why I purchased this Cab-1 as a backup to replace the controller I have used for years.

Meets my purpose as a replacement for the existing one that broke. I didn't even have to change the crystal!

It is ok for the older TMCC products but I would go for the Legacy version in the future
