Quality and Durability
When I began cycling years ago I always used the standard stainless cables but with the advent of 11speed systems I started using the polymer bonded and the DuPont teflon coated stainless cables on my bikes as suggested by Shimano for smoother shifting and in hindsight I ended up doing so with deep regrets. The polymer material used on some stainless steel cables has an inherent flaw which manifests itself after a couple months of use. As the bonded material starts to degrade and strands separate, it creates undesired friction between the shift cable and cable housing leading to sluggish shifting. The coated cables require more maintenance and have relatively higher replacement intervals. I have since resumed using uncoated stainless cables with great satisfaction because they are not plagued with these annoying issues and like some cables a light application of an approved grease is required at the time of installation.... I prefer the philwood brand grease for its durability and waterproofness.... and you will enjoy many miles of slick and trouble free shifting. Based on my experience if you are looking for shift cables that offer durability, quality and extremely low maintenance I highly recommend these Shimano SUS stainless cables.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

I previously installed a cheap shift cable on my bike that broke after just a few times riding it, then I bought the Shimano cable. Boom, problem solved. I could easily feel a difference in the level of quality in my fingers as I held both cables in my hands. I won't waste any more money on cheap replacement parts again. Better than factory stock
