excellent chef knife for $50
I've taught classes how to sharpen chef knives and this knife is an excellent value for where counts: in the blade.
The handle fit and finish is mediocre at best - but it works fine. The key thing is the blade can be made razor sharp (Search for "Brent's sharpening pages") quickly. The steel isn't as hard as an aogami #2 super steel knife I have - but the blade shape is identical and the typical home cook will not be able to tell the difference at less than 1/3 the price. The weight and feel is identical (I'm not a chef, but I make knives and notice some differences that most people won't).
