    Good replacement for older refrigerator.

I purchased this icemaker for a 10+ year old refrigerator. Seeing as appliances now don't last as long as they used to, I didn't want to spend a lot of money to fix a refrigerator that may very well be on borrowed time. This not a genuine Whirlpool part and it costs about 40% of the OEM part which is a significant savings. Installation is easy and there are many resources on line to provide instructions for replacement. Even though the installation area is tight, I managed to swap out the unit in less than 15 minutes and had it producing ice in less than two hours. I gave it four stars since there is a difference in material; the plastics are not as robust as the OEM but that shouldn't be a deterrent to buy this product. I have confidence that it will perform well for what life is left in the refrigerator.

    Didn't work

This ice maker fit well and appeared to have a robust build to it. I installed it without any problems and it worked well for about 2 weeks. One morning after about two weeks, it started filling itself up with water and never shut the filling water off. Water proceeded to spill all over inside the freezer and eventually made it onto my floors. By chance I was home and in the kitchen when this happened. I really hate to think what would've happened had this ice maker pulled this stunt off while I was away from the house. This will ruin anyone's day.

  • Why did I wait so long?

Easy-peasy lemon squeezie to install. My freezer had been baren for 6 months....within an hour I was making ice again. I would not hesitate to purchase this product again or recommend to a friend. I was hesitant becasue of the comparative low cost, but I figured it was cheaper than buying a new fridge if it did work. Save yourself hundreds of dollars from brand name. I'll be checking ebay a LOT more in the future for my household needs.

  • KichenAid Icemaker

This is the second one of these icemakers I have purchased. They are very easy to replace and work very well. There is one screw to remove and one wiring harness connection to disconnect. Remove the door ( if your model has one) and the icemaker slides out the front. Do the same in reverse and about an hour later you have ice.

  • Perfect copy of original. Works great.

This worked perfectly in my Refrigerator Whirlpool Model GS6SHAXLL03 MFG Date 03-03. It includes the ice detector bar. But I just didn't install it so the optical ice sensors work to stop when bucket is full.

  • Kenmore Coldspot icemaker replaced with aftermarket icemaker.

The icemaker in carton box arrived undamaged. Look on youtube for removing the old icemaker. Pay attention how wires and connector are positioned when the wire shroud is removed. Remove the old white plastic shroud and use the same 3 screws to mount it on the new icemaker. Note: the new icemaker has a scew for a clamp over the heating element which must be removed. The new wires and connectors fit well. Install the new icemaker. Push the wires and connector back so that the icemaker can be pushed in place. Cover the wires with the old wire cover. We tossed the first bucker of ice cubes as one is not sure how clean the new cube trays were. We checked the old icemaker. The defect was located between the copper trace contact fingers and the heating element pin. The fingers lose their contact pressure over time and eventually result in arcing and complete loss of contact. The icemaker water supply line tip and the hopper freezes and no cubes produced.

  • Very Good Replacement

This replacement icemaker is not as rugged as the original but should last a long time. it does not come with the bottom shroud so you need to use the one from the old unit. It was easy to install and once chilled to the proper temp, it began making ice until the bin was full once again.

  • Easy installation

Easy to install. Works well. The last one lasted less than 2 years, but don’t know the maker. They all look alike to me. Good price & easy change out. Probably costs twice as much from an appliance parts store. Would buy again next time I need one.

  • Pretty good (with one minor problem)

I bought this ice maker to replace the original on my Kenmore side-by-side. Installation was relatively easy, although you do have to remove the bottom mounting plate on your old ice maker and install it on the replacement. For the first 2 days or so, the replacement worked fine. Then water started leaking/spraying into the freezer compartment. It turns out the fill cup on the replacement ice maker was too shallow. There was a 1/2 inch gap between the fill tube and the fill cup. I took removed the replacement from the freezer, removed the too-shallow fill cup, and installed the fill cup from old ice maker. Then I reinstalled the replacement ice maker -- with the old fill cup -- and things are working fine.
