I had the 8th round issue, but discovered a couple things - quality seems good otherwise
Only held 7 rounds initially. Functioned well the first time out. Later, after pushing ridiculously hard, I was able to get an 8th round in. The magazine wouldn't even come close to going in the gun - no way - and I wasn't going to use a hammer. I didn't like the little slip that came with it, which said the spring is stiff and to leave it like that for a while. It should work out of the box if the factory magazine does. But... as another review pointed out, it will go in the gun if it is in battery, so you have to have a round in the chamber. I was skeptical that it would even load right, but it closed fine and ejected fine. Then I took the magazine apart, compared springs (they are different "wavelengths"), then put it back together. This time, the 8th round went in much eaiser! It still wouldn't go in the gun unless it was locked open, but that got me thinking it might just be how the spring is put in during assembly - maybe it is pusing against something and isn't in the right position. I'm going to look at it closer. Meanwhile, I'm not unhappy with it, even if it ends up being a 7-round, for the price.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Not all that satisfied.
Like others have mentioned I could only load 7 rds into the mag. I had to do some modifications to get it to work. The spring had one to many coils and you cannot compress it enough to get the follower down far enough to load the 8th rd unless you cut off a coil. Removed from the top of the spring. Once I did this 8 rds went in. Then when trying to feed the rounds we're nose diving. Noticed the lips and follower are designed differently from the oem BERSA mags. The lips are a little shorter and follower shaped differently found this is what was causing the nose diving. I had to slightly bend the lips in the front where the bullet feeds up into the barrel slightly in to stop the nose diving. If you bend in to much the slide won't stay open so it was trial an error until I got it working correctly. This is the first time I've had an issue with a Mecgar mag and definitely will only stick with BERSA as I'm not happy with the design of the Mecgar. In any event I got it to work but only after modifying it. Loads 8 rds and feeds and ejects only after making these changes. Not sure if these are old mags that Mecgar no longer sells and if they've been modified but there are definitely some differences to it from the BERSA mags and those differences make it defective. So unless you want to put some work in modifying it pass on these and go with BERSA mags.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Having problems getting the magazine to latch in the pistol?
The underside of the pistol slide has a "stripper rail" cast/formed into it. The purpose of this rail is to strip the cartridge from the magazine and push the cartridge into the camber as the slide moves forward into battery. When inserting a loaded magazine into ANY pistol with the slide already closed in the forward position, the top cartridge will be touching this "stripper rail" and that is why some of you are having trouble seating the magazine and getting it to latch. If you are unable to apply enough force to seat the magazine with the slide closed, lock the slide open, seat the magazine, then release the slide. Please do a better job of reading your instruction manuals for your firearms prior to attempting to use the firearm. As for the difficulty loading 8 rounds when the magazine is new, stop being in such a hurry. Load as many as you can, wait a day, then load until full. The spring of any quality magazine needs to be treated this way. It is not a defect. It is only operator error.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Well made magazine, better than factory.
I highly recommend the magazine. It's quality surpasses the factory magazine in my opinion and this one holds an extra round. And, I really appreciate the seller's notice/directions about break-in for a new magazine and how to break it in. A new magazine is really tight and sometimes the last round is difficult to load. Once the spring becomes used the last round becomes easier to load. Also, sometimes, if the user takes the magazine apart and reassembles it, it will insure the spring and components are in their proper setting allowing the last round to load. I've experienced this before with other magazines and have "fixed" them by breaking them in and or taking them apart and reassembling them.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Mec-gar makes great reasonably priced mags
Just shot my new Bersa Thunder 380 today & this magazine performed beautifully for all 8 rounds as did the Bersa OEM 8-rd Mag it came with. The nickel version shows great build quality. Good and Bad
I bought 2 of these magazines. One of them worked just as advertised but the other one would only hold 7 rounds even when I used an uphula magazine loader. I left the magazine loaded with 7 rounds for 2 weeks but it still would only hold 7 rounds. I used a pencil eraser & constantly pushed the spring in the magazine up and down but it still only will hold 7 bullets.I guess it is the luck of the draw.I kept the magazine because it fed the 7 rounds without any hiccupsVerified purchase: YesCondition: New

Quality Magazine
Ordered the Bersa Thunder 380 in nickle. It came with a blued magazine. They said that was how the latest version is produced. I had ordered the Mec-Gar Stainless steel magazine while waiting on the gun. I have run a hundred rounds through both magazines and both have functioned perfectly. I took these magazines to the range last weekend to function test them. They performed flawlessly, no different than the OEM Bersa Thunder 380 magazines. The only difference was the Mec Gar hold one more round than the originals. The magazine isn't any longer than the OEM. The nickel finish is outstanding.
