This is the first train set I've ever had under our Christmas tree. The quality and price were great, but the smile on my grandsons face is what makes it truly worth the money. He loves to lay on his tummy, just to watch this train go round and round, all the while it plays the Christmas tunes. Thank you for the great offer and we also appreciate the fast shipping. Well worth it!!!

This train set is made by Goldlok toys rather than by Lionel themselves. The two coaches (passenger cars) are standard parts, the caboose uses a standard coach with a modified roof section, the join being hidden behind some stickers. The loco is unique to this set and is actually a 2-6-0 rather than the 0-6-0 that you would expect. Plastics are fairly cheap but the moulding quality is OK for a cheap toy. However there is one massive problem, it's not G gauge. The box clearly states 'G-Gauge' but the track isn't 45mm between the rails it's actually 51mm. Most Goldlok large scale trains use this 51mm gauge as it meant that Goldlok didn't have to make a new loco chassis, instead they used the chassis from an existing bump-and-go (mystery action) toy. In Europe this set could not be sold as it's not as described and to be honest I'm surprised it's being sold in the States. I know what I was getting before I bid, but if you want a G gauge train set you had better look elsewhere.Read full review
